METAL TYPES

Solid Gold vs Gold Filled vs Gold Plated

The majority of our gold chain offerings are 14k gold filled. We love this, as it is an amazing more affordable alternative to solid gold. This means the outer portion of the chain is gold heat bonded to the interior metal.

We do not carry regular gold plated chain. It is essentially dipping the interior metal into a ratio of gold for a very thin coating. This is what you will find at the mall and from mass retailers. It is what turns your skin green or tarnishes rapidly.

.925 Sterling Silver

This is the same quality silver as fine jewelry. Though, everyday means more regular care. We expect these chains to last approx. 3+ years

Ion Plated Stainless Steel

With gold stainless steel chains, the bond of gold & steel happens at the molecular level (so the water resistance and hypoallergenic qualities are still present). We expect these chains to last approx. 2-3 years.
